New Release and bug fixes

Performance Improvements - We've made changes to improve performance and memory usage for smoother, more responsive gameplay, with more on the way.

Card Ability Fixes - Fixed cards being squashed by tokens and some start-of-game abilities not triggering correctly, and corrected the order some triggered effects resolve in. Card ability displays are now more consistent too.

Additional VFX - New VFX for Harry Tyler, Yves Dubois, Valora, Benedict and Agent <3, plus fixes to existing card VFX (Manfred, Sylvia, Robby Jackson, Boyar Musat, Thaddeus and Ember) and a missing texture on Monika Kováč.

Other Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where store purchases could time out

  • Fixed gyro motion controls not working correctly

  • Fixed fullscreen cards not always re-centering correctly

  • Fixed the end-of-Chronicle rewards bar not filling all the way

  • Fixed gaps between some rewards and their description text

  • Fixed the new-player tutorial deck sequence

Lore

All cards from the Party to Remember, Secrets of the City and Theatre of Lies seasons now have lore. We've also added lore to Benedict, and both Benedict and Marissa the Butcher's style cards.

Balance update

To hone the overall balance of the game we've made a number of small numerical adjustments to a range of existing cards, while also addressing a few ability bugs which changed how particular cards played.

Location Balance

Location : Penelope's theatre

Was:

"When a card gains or loses Power, the magnitude is increased by 2."

Change: "When a card gains or loses Power, it gains or loses 1 more."

We've nerfed the modifier and improved the wording to be more intuitive. We want locations to have a meaningful impact on the meta, creating unique scenarios for players to try new decks and keep the meta fresh. However sometimes they end up overtuned in pursuit of this goal, we're lowering the impact of Penelope's theatre to improve overall balance.

Card Balance

Discard

The highest performing discard cards have held steady since their release, whilst we want to give new content time to settle they've remained outside our acceptable bounds for PvP win rate for too long, so a few adjustments are needed.

Jackie Pincher

Was: 2/3

"When one of your cards is Defeated or Discarded: Inflict -2 Power on a random enemy card."

Change: "When one of your cards is Defeated or Discarded: Inflict -1 Power on a random enemy card."

Additionally Jackie can no longer target 0 power cards.

We wanted to make this card more intuitive to play, but also address the power level of the him.

Lucy Baptiste

Was: 5/8

"When Discarded: Add 2 Forgotten Memories to hand."

Change: 5/8 → 5/6

Scarlet Redline

Was: 2/4

"When you Discard a card: Gain +1 Power and move to an empty or enemy connected space."

Change: 2/4 → 2/3

Matome "Defib"

Was: 3/3

"End of this round: Return all cards put into your Discard pile this turn to hand."

Change: This card was originally intended to only trigger on the round he was played, hence the wording. We wanted to see how he would perform without the change and overall the combined power of Defib and Landmine in discard decks was too high, so we've nerfed defib to his original intent.

Gangrel

Gangrel have been the consistently highest win rate overall deck for a long time. While individual late game cards from other archetypes have pipped them at points, they've held steady through multiple meta shifts. They're an exciting archetype and have an important place in the overall meta health, but having stayed so high for so long are in need of some minor adjustments to their top win rate cards.

Sanjay Ali

Was: 2/3

"On Reveal: Add 2 Rats(Beasts) to your hand."

Change: 2/3 → 2/2

Rat-Eater

Was: 2/3

"'On Reveal: Discard your lowest cost card and create a Rat in up to 2 empty spaces.'"

Change: 2/3 → 2/2

Gangrel Monstrosity

Was: 2/4

Created by Dr. Ellis and Branwen White "End of Round: Move to an enemy connected card."

Change: 2/4 → 2/3

The Dr Ellis + Shifa combo is a fun emergent combo but ended up giving aggressive decks slightly too much ability to lock down the game early.

Branwen White

Was: 4/5

"On Reveal: Add two Gangrel Monstrosities (Beasts) to your hand."

Change: 4/4 → 4/5

Branwen White sees fairly low usage rate, so to compensate the nert to monstrosities we've slightly buffed her power.

Wolf token

Was: 3/6

Created by Paulo Marques and Madison Wolfe

Change: 3/6 → 3/5

Low winrate and usage rate cards

To give players fun, viable options we want to bring up some of the lowest performing cards opening up more compelling deck building choices.

Mercedes

Was: 4/4

"When this would gain Power permanently, it gains +1 more. (wherever this is)"

Change: When this would gain Power permanently, it gains +2 more. (wherever this is)

Yves DuBois

Was: 3/0

"While in play: This has double power"

Change: 3/0 → 3/1

While this is a relatively minor change, each 1 point of power he gains translates to 2, and at the same time a collection of new support pieces are being released, so we want to monitor the impact of these changes.

Isabel Segura

Was: 2/1

"When an enemy card loses Power: Steal 1 Power from it. (Once per round)"

Change: 2/1 → 2/2

In future bug fixes we want to address this issue where Isabel can try to steal from cards that have lost all power, using her once per round charge, however this is proving more complicated to fix.

Łukasz Baran

Was: 5/5

"After this wins a Conflict: Give +3 Power to your cards behind this."

Change: 5/55/7

Randy Brash

Was: 4/4

"On Reveal: Give +2 Power to 2 Violent cards in your hand."

Change: 4/4 → 3/4

Olavi "Tappava" Puttanesca

Was: 3/2

"Before one of your Violent cards would win a Conflict: Murder the enemy card."

Change: 3/2 → 2/2

Robby Jackson

Was: 2/0

"On Reveal: Give +2 Power to all Violent cards you played this turn.(Including unrevealed ones)"

Change: 2/0 → 2/3

Athena

Was: 5/8

"When this would win a Conflict: Murder the enemy card."

Change: 5/85/9

Shoshana

Was: 5/6

"On Reveal: Murder all your connected Acolytes, then create a Mortal Acolyte in up to 2 empty spaces."

Change: "On Reveal: Murder all your connected Acolytes. After one of your cards is murdered: Create a Mortal Acolyte in a random empty space. (up to 3 times per game)"

This change is a slight upgrade, allowing her to create one extra acolyte, and also a sidegrade which makes her easier to use. It also has the upside of trigger after the murder happens, so she can now create acolytes in spaces she empties with the first part of her ability.

Thank you
