Head of Terms
A concise summary of the key, confirmed terms, intended for early publication. This is a summary only and is not the full agreement; the full Terms & Conditions (Part 3) will be published before entries open on 1 October 2026 and will govern the Competition. Data protection and governing-law provisions are set out in the full Terms.
1. Promoter. Well Played Apoc Limited, trading as Well Played Games (company no. 10870708), registered office 3rd Floor, Walton House, 11–15 Parade, Leamington Spa, CV32 4DG.
2. The Competition. "Crimson Legacy" invites entrants to create an original vampire character for the chance to have it adapted into an official card in the mobile game Clans of London, built on the Vampire: The Masquerade / World of Darkness IP licensed from Paradox Interactive & White Wolf.
3. Eligibility. Free to enter. Open to individuals aged 18 or over at the date of entry who are resident in an eligible territory. Not open to residents of the Excluded Territories (paragraph 8), nor to employees of the Promoter, Phoenix Games or Paradox Interactive & White Wolf and their households.
4. How to enter. Post your original vampire character on Instagram, X, Bluesky, TikTok, YouTube, or Facebook using the official hashtags #crimsonlegacy26 and #clansoflondon, then register your entry at https://www.clansoflondon.com/crimsonlegacy26 with a link to your post. One entry per person.
5. Key rules. Your entry must be your own original work; no AI-generated content; no third-party trade marks, characters or other IP without permission; content must be lawful and appropriate.
6. Dates. Entries: 1–31 October 2026. Community voting: 16–30 November 2026. Winner announced: on or around 3 December 2026.
7. How winners are chosen. The Promoter shortlists finalists on merit and fit with the world of the game; the community votes in a limited in-game event to choose a final three; the Promoter then selects the Winner from that final three on merit and fit with the game and IP. A Social Choice Award is given to the finalist with the highest social engagement. This is a skill-based competition and the Promoter's decisions are final. The Promoter reserves the right to withdraw a prize and select an alternative winner if a winner is ineligible, in breach of these terms, or unable to accept the prize.
8. Excluded Territories. The Competition is not open to residents of: Russia, Belarus, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Cuba, and the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine; Brazil; Italy; mainland China; Quebec (Canada); and India.
9. Prizes. The Winner receives a trip to the UK for a professional photoshoot at the Promoter's studio in Leamington Spa. The Promoter covers return flights, travel (including between London and the Leamington Spa studio), travel insurance and 3 nights' accommodation in London, and provides £500 spending money. The winning character is adapted into an official in-game card, and the Winner also receives an in-game reward bundle. In-game rewards are also awarded to the Social Choice Award winner, to finalists and runners-up, and to participants for entering and voting. The trip is subject to the Winner being eligible and able to travel (including holding a valid passport and any visa required).
10. Your character & likeness. Your character is created within the Vampire: The Masquerade setting, which belongs to Paradox Interactive & White Wolf. By entering, you allow us to use your entry to run and promote the Competition. If you win, your character becomes part of Clans of London: you will be asked to sign an agreement transferring to us the rights we need in your character, lore and likeness so that the card can be used in the game and its marketing (including on the Apple and Google app stores), and we intend to credit you as its creator. The full Terms & Conditions set out the detail.
11. Not affiliated. The Competition is not sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Apple, Google or any social media platform used to enter or promote it.
12. Full terms. These Head of Terms are a summary for early publication. The full Terms & Conditions will be published before 1 October 2026 and, once published, will prevail over this summary.
Full Terms & Conditions
1. The Promoter
1.1 This competition, Crimson Legacy (the "Competition"), is promoted by Well Played Apoc Limited, trading as Well Played Games, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 10870708, whose registered office is at 3rd Floor, Walton House, 11–15 Parade, Leamington Spa, CV32 4DG (the "Promoter", "we", "us", "our").
1.2 The Competition relates to the Promoter's mobile game Clans of London (the "Game"), which is built on the Vampire: The Masquerade / World of Darkness intellectual property licensed from Paradox Interactive AB ("Paradox Interactive"), which manages that intellectual property under the White Wolf name (together, "Paradox Interactive & White Wolf"). The Promoter is part of the Phoenix Games group ("Phoenix").
1.3 Questions about the Competition should be sent to crimsonlegacy@clansoflondon.com. Please do not send entries to that address; entries must be submitted as set out in clause 6.
2. Agreement to these terms
2.1 By entering the Competition, each entrant ("Entrant", "you", "your") confirms that they have read, understood and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions (the "Terms") and by the Promoter's privacy policy referred to in clause 13.
2.2 These Terms, together with any entry instructions published on the official entry route, form the entire agreement between you and the Promoter in relation to the Competition. The Competition Headlines and Head of Terms are provided for convenience only and do not form part of the binding Terms; in the event of any conflict, these Full Terms prevail.
3. Eligibility
3.1 The Competition is open to individuals who, at the date of entry, are aged 18 years or over.
3.2 The Competition is open to residents of eligible territories worldwide, except that it is not open to residents of the Excluded Territories listed in clause 3.2A. Entrants must be legally resident in an eligible territory at the date of entry and at the date any prize is awarded.
3.2A Excluded Territories — the Competition is not open to residents of:
-
Sanctioned / embargoed countries and regions — Russia, Belarus, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Cuba, and the Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine (and any other territory subject to comprehensive UK sanctions);
-
Brazil — excluded for this edition (local prize-promotion authorisation cannot be completed in time; the Promoter intends to include Brazil in future editions);
-
Italy;
-
Mainland China;
-
Quebec (Canada); and
-
India.
3.2B For the avoidance of doubt, residents of the United States (including Florida and New York) are eligible: because the Winner is selected by the Promoter on merit (clause 8), the Competition is a skill contest rather than a chance-based promotion.
3.3 The following persons may not enter: (a) employees, officers, directors, agents and contractors of the Promoter, Phoenix or Paradox Interactive & White Wolf; (b) members of the judging panel; (c) any other person professionally connected with the administration of the Competition; and (d) the immediate families and members of the same household of any person in (a) to (c).
3.4 Entry is free and no purchase is necessary. Entrants require internet access, a social media account on an eligible platform, and an email address to register. The Promoter will provide a reasonable alternative means of entry to any person who requests one and cannot otherwise enter.
3.5 The Promoter may require an Entrant to provide proof of age, identity and residence before awarding any prize, and may disqualify any Entrant who cannot provide it or who does not meet the eligibility criteria.
4. How the Competition is structured
4.1 The Competition proceeds in stages: entrants share and register an original character; the Promoter shortlists finalists based on social engagement and fit with the tone and world of the Game (clause 8); the finalists are presented in a limited in-game event in which players vote to select a final three; and the Promoter then selects the Winner from that final three on merit and fit with the game and IP. A Social Choice Award is given for the highest eligible social engagement.
4.2 Entry and voting are free. Voting takes place inside the Game and a player must have progressed far enough in the Game to unlock voting; votes cannot be bought and no payment can increase a vote's weight. Because the Winner is chosen by the Promoter on merit rather than by the vote alone, the Competition is a skill contest and not a lottery.
5. Competition period
5.1 The Competition opens for entries at 00:01 BST on 1 October 2026 and closes at 23:59 GMT on 31 October 2026 (the "Closing Date"). Entries received after the Closing Date will not be accepted.
5.2 Following the Closing Date, the Promoter will shortlist finalists; community voting runs from 16 to 30 November 2026; and the Winner and Social Choice Award are announced on or around 3 December 2026. The Promoter's records of the time of receipt of an entry are final and conclusive.
6. How to enter
6.1 To enter, you must, before the Closing Date: (a) publish your original vampire character as a photograph (or an approved short-form video) on Instagram, X, Bluesky, TikTok, YouTube, or Facebook, including the official competition hashtags #crimsonlegacy25 and #clansoflondon and keeping the post publicly viewable during the submission period; and (b) complete the official entry form at https://www.clansoflondon.com/crimsonlegacy26, providing your social display name/handle, a valid email address, a link to your qualifying social post, and your acceptance of these Terms.
6.2 Shortlisted finalists will be invited to complete a finalist submission form providing further details, including character name and lore, original assets, source or working files sufficient to evidence original creation (for example layered or dated project files), and any photographer permissions and declarations. Progression beyond the shortlist is conditional on completing that form and meeting these Terms.
6.3 Only one entry is permitted per person. Where more than one entry is received from the same person, only the first valid entry will be considered. Entries made on behalf of, or by, a third party, in bulk, or by automated means are not permitted and will be disqualified. Incomplete or non-compliant entries may be rejected.
7. Entry requirements and content standards
7.1 Each entry (including the character concept, the costume and the image or video) (the "Entry") must be your own original work, created by you, and must not have been entered into any other competition.
7.2 Images and video must be genuine, unaltered save for ordinary editing, and must not be generated or materially manipulated by artificial intelligence.
7.3 Your Entry must not: (a) infringe the intellectual property rights, privacy rights or any other rights of any third party; (b) depict, reference or incorporate any third-party trade mark, logo, brand, artwork or copyright work, or any character or property owned by a third party, without that party's authorisation (this does not prevent you using the Vampire: The Masquerade setting as contemplated by the Competition); (c) depict any person other than you, unless that person is aged 18 or over and has given their written consent to entry and to the uses described in these Terms; (d) be unlawful, defamatory, obscene, sexually explicit, discriminatory, threatening or otherwise objectionable; or (e) bring, or be likely to bring, the Promoter, Phoenix, Paradox Interactive & White Wolf or the Game into disrepute.
7.4 You warrant that: (a) you are the sole author and owner of, or have all necessary rights in, the Entry; (b) the Entry complies with clause 7; and (c) all information you provide is true and accurate. You agree to indemnify the Promoter against any loss, damage, cost or expense arising from any breach of these warranties.
7.5 The Promoter may, at its discretion, disqualify any Entry that it reasonably believes does not comply with these Terms, without notice.
8. Judging, shortlisting and voting
8.1 The Promoter will shortlist finalists from eligible Entries, assessed by a panel appointed by the Promoter (the "Judges") on the basis of social engagement and the following criteria: visual impact and craftsmanship; character presence and originality; creativity of the character concept; and alignment with the tone and world of Clans of London and Vampire: The Masquerade.
8.2 The finalists will be presented in a limited in-game event, and players who have unlocked voting may vote to select the final three. The Judges will then select the Competition Winner from the final three on the criteria in clause 8.1 (merit and fit with the game and IP). A Social Choice Award will be given to the finalist with the highest eligible social media engagement, measured as described on the competition page.
8.3 Voting is free and one vote per eligible account. Any attempt to manipulate voting or engagement — including creating multiple or fake accounts to vote, using bots, or purchasing votes or engagement — is prohibited and will result in disqualification. The Promoter may discount votes it reasonably believes to be fraudulent or artificially generated.
8.4 The Judges' decisions on shortlisting, the selection of the Winner, eligibility and the administration of voting are final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into.
9. Notification of winners
9.1 The Competition Winner and the Social Choice Award winner will be notified using the contact details provided in their registration within 14 days of the results being determined.
9.2 A winner must confirm acceptance of their prize and provide any information reasonably required (including eligibility verification under clause 3.5 and, for the Competition Winner, signature of the Winner Release under clause 12.3) within 14 days of being notified. If a winner does not respond within that period, cannot be contacted, is found to be ineligible, or declines the prize, the Promoter reserves the right to disqualify that winner and select an alternative from the remaining eligible finalists.
9.3 Change of winner. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time (including after a winner has been announced), to withdraw any prize and to select an alternative winner from the remaining eligible finalists if a winner: (a) is found to be ineligible or to have breached these Terms (including the originality and no-AI requirements); (b) fails to accept the prize, sign the Winner Release or satisfy the conditions of the prize within the required time; (c) is unable or unwilling to take the prize; or (d) acts in a way that the Promoter reasonably considers brings the Promoter, Phoenix, Paradox Interactive & White Wolf or the Game into disrepute. The Promoter may also re-run or substitute any stage of the selection process where it reasonably believes that stage has been compromised (for example by vote manipulation). Any such decision is final.
10. The prizes
10.1 The prizes are as set out below. There are no second- or third-place cash prizes.
10.2 Competition Winner: (a) a trip to the United Kingdom for a professional photoshoot at the Promoter's studio in Leamington Spa, for which the Promoter will provide return flights, travel (including between London and the Promoter's studio), travel insurance and three (3) nights' accommodation in London (the "Trip"), as further described and conditioned in clause 11; (b) £500 provided as spending money in connection with the Trip; (c) the adaptation of the Winner's character into an official card within the Game (the "Winning Card"), subject to clause 11.5; and (d) an in-game cosmetic and currency bundle to the value of up to £20. The Winner may extend their stay at their own cost, and the Promoter will still cover the Winner's flights. The Trip is for the Winner only.
10.3 Social Choice Award: an in-game cosmetic and currency bundle to the value of up to £15.
10.4 Finalists and runners-up: each shortlisted finalist receives an in-game cosmetic and currency bundle to the value of up to £10; each member of the final three who is not the Winner (a "runner-up") receives an in-game cosmetic and currency bundle to the value of up to £15.
10.5 Participation rewards: (a) registering a valid entry — an in-game cosmetic bundle (avatar, card back and title); (b) casting an eligible in-game vote — an in-game bundle to the value of up to £5; and (c) each successful referral, if and when the Promoter makes a referral feature available during the Competition — an in-game bundle to the value of up to £5.
10.6 In-game rewards (the Winner, Social Choice, finalist, runner-up and participation rewards) have no cash value, are not exchangeable for cash, and are provided within, and subject to, the Game and its own terms. The £500 spending money is stated in pounds sterling (GBP); where provided to a winner outside the United Kingdom it will be provided in GBP and the winner is responsible for any currency conversion and any fees charged by their own bank or payment provider.
11. Prize conditions and fulfilment
11.1 Spending money. The £500 spending money will be paid to the Winner by bank transfer in advance of the Trip, on receipt of the Winner's acceptance and valid payment details.
11.2 Travel and documents. The Trip is subject to availability and to travel dates agreed between the Promoter and the Winner. The Winner is responsible for holding a valid passport and obtaining any visa or other permission required to enter and remain in the United Kingdom for the Trip. The Promoter may provide reasonable supporting documentation but does not guarantee that any visa will be granted, and is not responsible if it is not.
11.3 Fitness to travel, insurance and conduct. The Winner must be fit to travel. The Promoter will arrange and pay for appropriate travel insurance for the Winner. While at the Promoter's premises the Winner must comply with the Promoter's reasonable instructions and code of conduct; the Promoter may curtail the Trip in the event of unlawful or unacceptable behaviour.
11.4 If the Winner cannot travel. If the Winner is unable or unwilling to take the Trip (including where a visa is refused or travel cannot be arranged within 6 months of the winner announcement), the Promoter may, at its discretion, offer a reasonable alternative, which may include a remote photoshoot arrangement. The in-game card, the £20 in-game bundle and the £500 spending money are unaffected save as stated.
11.5 The Winning Card. The Winning Card will be a new work created by the Promoter, drawing on the Winner's character and lore and on the photographs from the photoshoot, with the card art, copy and game mechanics created by the Promoter. Its development and release are subject to the Promoter's editorial and creative control and to the approval of Paradox Interactive as IP holder. The Winner's character may be adapted for gameplay, artistic and lore consistency. The Promoter does not guarantee any particular release date, and if Paradox Interactive does not approve the card the Promoter will discuss a reasonable alternative recognition with the Winner. This does not affect the Trip or cash elements of the prize. The Promoter intends, at its discretion, to credit the Winner as the creator of the character.
11.6 In-game rewards. In-game cosmetics, currency and bundles will be credited to the recipient's Game account. Where a reward is earned through the website (for example a website referral), the recipient must link a valid Clans of London account to claim it. Rewards may be delivered by redeemable code. In-game rewards are personal to the recipient, non-transferable and subject to the Game's terms of service.
11.7 General. Prizes are non-transferable and, except as expressly stated, non-exchangeable, and there is no cash alternative. The Promoter may substitute any prize with a prize of equal or greater value if circumstances beyond its reasonable control make this necessary.
11.8 Taxes. Winners are responsible for any personal tax, duties or similar liabilities arising from their prize in any jurisdiction, and should take their own advice. Nothing in these Terms is, or should be relied on as, tax advice.
12. Rights in entries, likeness and image
12.1 The underlying IP. The Competition and all Entries are created within the Vampire: The Masquerade / World of Darkness setting, the intellectual property in which belongs to Paradox Interactive & White Wolf. Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights in that underlying intellectual property, and you may not commercially exploit elements of it (including clan names, factions, disciplines and other setting-specific terms) independently of the Competition. Subject to that, and to clauses 12.2 and 12.3, you retain the copyright in your own original expression in your Entry.
12.2 All Entrants — limited licence. By entering, you grant the Promoter a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, reproduce, publish and display your Entry (including your character, images/video and provided name/handle) solely for the purposes of administering and judging the Competition and promoting the Competition — including showcasing finalists, the in-game voting event and announcing the results — during the Competition and for twelve (12) months after the winner announcement. The Promoter will not use a non-winning Entry as the basis for a card, lore or other content in the Game without your separate written agreement.
12.3 Winner — assignment and release. As a condition of the prize, the Winner will be required to sign the Promoter's Artist Release Agreement together with a Crimson Legacy Winner Schedule (together, the "Winner Release") on accepting the prize and before the photoshoot and card development begin. Under the Winner Release the Winner will: (a) assign to the Promoter, with full title guarantee, all intellectual property rights in the winning character (including its name, concept, design and costume as depicted), the associated lore, and the materials submitted in the Competition; and (b) grant the Promoter and its successors, assigns, licensees and sub-licensees an irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free and transferable right to use the Winner's name, image, likeness and performance, the photographs taken, and the Winning Card, in connection with the Game (including its updates and successors) and its marketing, across all media now known or later developed, including use by platform holders (including Apple and Google) in their stores and marketing, and by Paradox Interactive & White Wolf as licensor. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Winner waives, and covenants not to assert, any moral rights in such materials. The Promoter intends, at its discretion, to credit the Winner as the creator of the character.
12.4 You warrant that you have obtained all consents necessary (including from any other identifiable person appearing in your Entry, who must be 18 or over) to grant the rights in this clause 12, and you indemnify the Promoter in respect of any claim that the use of your Entry as permitted infringes any third party's rights.
12.5 The Winning Card. The Winning Card is a new work created by the Promoter. All intellectual property rights in the Winning Card, and in any card art, copy and mechanics created by the Promoter, vest in the Promoter or, where required under the Promoter's licence, in Paradox Interactive as licensor.
13. Data protection
13.1 The Promoter, Well Played Apoc Limited, is the data controller for personal data collected in connection with the Competition. We process that data to administer the Competition, verify eligibility, award and fulfil prizes, and (where you consent) for marketing, in accordance with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
13.2 The lawful basis for processing entry data is your consent, given when you register, and/or the performance of these Terms. Images and video of identifiable individuals are personal data and are processed on the same basis.
13.3 We may share your data with Phoenix, Paradox Interactive & White Wolf and our service providers (for example, providers of the registration website, payment and travel services) where necessary for the purposes above. Some recipients may be outside the UK; where that is the case we will ensure an appropriate safeguard is in place. We keep entry data only as long as necessary for these purposes and then delete it securely.
13.4 You have rights over your personal data, including the rights to access, correct, erase and object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. Full details are in our privacy policy at https://www.clansoflondon.com/privacy-policy, which forms part of these Terms.
14. Publicity
14.1 Winners agree that the Promoter may publish their first name, character name, social handle (if provided) and county/country for the purpose of announcing the results, and may require winners to participate in reasonable post-competition publicity, subject to clause 12.
15. Liability
15.1 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits the Promoter's liability for death or personal injury caused by its negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.
15.2 Subject to clause 15.1, the Promoter is not liable for: (a) entries that are lost, delayed, corrupted, incomplete or not received due to technical failure or any cause outside its reasonable control; (b) any loss or damage arising from a Winner's participation in the Trip, save to the extent caused by the Promoter's negligence; or (c) any indirect or consequential loss.
15.3 Subject to clauses 15.1 and 15.2, the Promoter's total liability to any Entrant in connection with the Competition will not exceed the value of the relevant prize.
16. Disqualification, variation and cancellation
16.1 The Promoter may disqualify any Entrant who breaches these Terms, tampers with the entry or voting process, acts fraudulently or dishonestly, or behaves in a manner that is unlawful or that the Promoter reasonably considers inappropriate.
16.2 The Promoter reserves the right, acting reasonably, to amend these Terms or to suspend or cancel the Competition (or any element of it) where necessary for reasons beyond its reasonable control, or to prevent fraud or protect the fairness of the Competition. Where practicable it will give notice of any material change on its official channels.
17. General
17.1 If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force.
17.2 No failure or delay by the Promoter in exercising any right under these Terms operates as a waiver of that right.
17.3 A person who is not a party to these Terms has no right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any of them, save that Phoenix and Paradox Interactive may enforce clauses 11.5 and 12.
18. Platform disclaimer
18.1 The Competition is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Apple Inc., Google LLC, or any social media platform used to enter or promote it (including Instagram, X and Facebook, and any other platform used). By entering, you release those platforms from any liability in connection with the Competition. Any questions, comments or complaints must be directed to the Promoter and not to any such platform.
19. Governing law and jurisdiction
19.1 These Terms and any dispute arising out of or in connection with them or the Competition are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
