Update to Ranked: 11th June 2026

We've been avidly reading player feedback in regards to Matchmaking, Staking and the Ranked experience in general, and want to respond directly by making changes. Keep the feedback coming, as we consume everything we can get our fangs on ;)

What we’ve seen is that players want more matches to be played to completion, and that resigning matches has become common when optimising the climb. This is the core issue we want to address first:

On 11 June, with the start of the Theatre of Lies season, auto-stake at the end of matches will be disabled completely. Additionally, the base amount of Favour earned from matches will be increased to 2.

We want Ranked mode to be a fun and fair experience for a wide range of players, as well as for competitive players. This is one of the reasons behind the Stake mechanic, which offers a tactical way to express skill and optimise the climb through the ranks. Stakes also help alleviate defeats by offering a way to minimise losses.

This change preserves the total amount of Favour at stake in each game, while placing responsibility for staking fully on players. What we hope to see as a result of this change is the preservation of tactical gameplay around optimising the Ranked climb, but reduced pressure to resign before the end of the game due to the auto-stake.

The approach we want to take is one of agility and iteration. We’re going to start making smaller-scale changes that target specific points of feedback, with the goal of finding the right balance for players. Rest assured, we have many other options on the table and larger-scale ideas we are actively looking at, both in terms of Staking and other aspects of Ranked mode.
